The story of a photographer
My story begins with as a curious, creative kid. The daughter of an artist, I was always drawn toward being creative. My dad use to develop his own film and my mom was, and still is, a talented multi-medium artist. Acrylic, oils, charcoal, stained glass, you name it my mom can do it. It's no wonder that I am the same way. I tinker in all things creative but photography has always been the one thing to drawn me closer.
Why do you take so many photos? Why don't you live in the moment? Questions I hear all the time, mostly from my own family. The truth is I AM living in the moment when I have a camera in my hands. Friends in high school use to joke around and call me a paparazzi because I was the first of them to get a point and shoot digital camera. Take all the photos you want, look at them and delete the ones you don't like?! SIGN ME UP!
I want to remember. The big moments, the little moments. All the in-between moments. Photos tell a story. As you click through a series of photos you can imagine what was going on in those moments. A single photo can portray the joy, sadness, excitement of the moment. A posed photo captures you in that moment. The blue of your baby's eyes that only lasted a year. The curl in your daughters hair that disappeared when she decided she wanted to cut it. How tall your 10 year old was when you lived by the beach.
But those in between moments when you're laughing at the joke Dad whispered to you. When I asked Mom and Dad to tickle their kids. When I asked your youngest to remember their favorite vacation. Those are the moments you don't even realize you wanted to capture. Those are the moments I live for as your photographer. I want to pull out those silly little personalities. Those stubborn personalities that I can melt away.
I've had a camera in my hands capturing everything I can since I was a kid. Sure, I took some classes and got a certificate giving me something tangible to say I know what I'm doing when it comes to photography. Sure, I've had a business since 2011 and I've photographed it all. But not every photographer is going to capture those small moments, like when your shy 4 year old opens up and smiles for that crazy lady with a camera in their face. It's my goal to capture what you don't think is possible.
